Earth Day and spring are perfect times to renew your commitment to helping the environment. Corel shares this philosophy and wants to help you spread the word about how you ‘Go Green’ to protect the health of our planet and/or why you think Earth Day is important.

Create a Go Green video story and not only will you promote environmental awareness – you could also win hundreds of dollars’ worth of software. Corel will also donate $1000 to the winner’s non-profit green charity or cause of choice. To enter, contestants can use full versions or download a free trial of Corel® MediaOne® Plus to edit photos and create slideshows, Corel® Paint Shop Pro® Photo X2 to edit photos and/or VideoStudio® 11.5 Plus to create videos. Contest Details

Contest runs from April 22nd to May 31st
You must show how you are environmentally responsible, or why Earth Day is important
Your story must be created with Corel software, with a credit specifying which software was used
Winning entry will be based on the highest number of story views and consistency with the Go Green theme
There is one prize only. The winner receives a collection of Corel software, valued at over $1500, that includes VideoStudio® 11.5 Plus, Paint Shop Pro® Photo X2, Media One® Plus, Painter™ X, CorelDRAW® Graphics Suite X4, WordPerfect® Office X4, WinDVD® 9 Plus Blu-ray, DVD MovieFactory® 6 Plus and DVD Copy™ 6 Plus, and a digital video camera

Register your video with Corel (provide your name, address, phone number, charity/cause of choice, and the link to your Go Green video)

Under the Share tab, click Share Video Online icon, choose YouTube from the drop-down menu and select the video quality you want, then save the file with a name of your choice.
Log-in to YouTube
You will see the dialogue box. Click Authorization if you already have a YouTube account or click Join YouTube to create a new account. Click Next.

Describe your video
Fill out your video title, description and tags. Click next.

Click the Upload Video button to upload your video, then click Finish.

5 Steps for Successful Digital Storytelling

Create a personal story script Express how you feel and what this event or situation (Go Green) means for you. Share through your ‘heart’, not your ‘head’.
‘Hook’ viewers into your story Develop creative tension. Create suspense or comedy with effective pauses, timing and the unexpected.
Reveal lessons learned Give insight about how this event or situation touches you, your community or humanity. A good story makes a point and has a moral conclusion.
Be brief Ideally, your digital story should be 3-5 minutes long, based on a 1-page (500 words) script.
Record your voiceover and add images, music and effects Music, pictures, transitions, animations and special effects can be used to reinforce your themes and ‘show’ the details that your voiceover isn’t saying. These work together to add interest and create drama.
