Using the Rotate Page tool
By the Corel Documentation Team
Corel® Painter IX.5 is renowned for its ability to replicate the look and feel of traditional art materials. Just as you might rotate your canvas on an easel or reposition your sketchbook, Corel Painter lets you rotate the canvas while you paint or sketch to accommodate the way you draw naturally. Located in the toolbox, the Rotate Page tool lets you move the cursor clockwise or counterclockwise to rotate the canvas.
To rotate the canvas
- In the toolbox, click the Rotate Page tool.

The cursor changes to a hand with a pointing finger.
- Drag in the document window to rotate the canvas.
Move the cursor clockwise to rotate the canvas clockwise. Move the cursor counterclockwise to rotate the canvas counterclockwise.

The new rotation angle appears on the property bar, beside the Reset Tool button.
You can also rotate an image by selecting the Rotate Page tool and typing a rotation angle in the Rotation Angle box on the property bar.
For quick access, you can simply press E on your keyboard to switch to the Rotate Page tool.
Alternatively, the modifier keys Space + Option (Mac OS®) or Space + Alt (Windows®) let you briefly use the tool without switching from whichever other tool you are currently using. Just press the modifier keys and drag the canvas to rotate it. When attempting to use modifier keys, it's important to first press and hold Space, and then press and hold Option (Mac OS) or Alt (Windows).
